The Federal Government on Wednesday cancelled last Saturday’s Nigerian Immigration Service recruitment exercise.
The Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku who announced this shortly after the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) said a fresh recruitment exercise for the NIS would be conducted by a panel set up by FEC.
Deaconess Joan O. Ayo, The Chairman Civil Commission is to chair the panel comprises of representatives of the Police, State Security Service, Immigration, Prisons, Customs and Civil defence.
The presidency also commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives in the recruitment exercise while directing that those injured in the exercise be offered automatic employment in the NIS. President Goodluck Jonathan also directed that meeting be organized for him to commiserate personally with the bereaved families.
He however warned all government agencies against conduct of such exercise in future without the approval of the presidency.
